Since you have, in the past, repeatedly admonished people, myself included, that ppml is for discussion of matters relating to ARIN policy, is this a general expansion of the list charter going forward, or merely an exception you’re making for this topic?
Owen — simply seeking clarity.

We are currently in the process of closing the arin-discuss at arin.net mailing list due to several problems such as it was an "opt out" list that ARIN had been auto subscribing members to for years. We are looking into the requirement to stand up a general discussion list in the ARIN region that would be open to anyone that wishes to opt-in. It would be great if you could submit your suggestion for what you perceive to be a good way to do that. You can find all the information for submitting a suggestion on the arin.net website.

>>> While I see no relevance to continue this discussion at ARIN PPML as it has no relevance to ARIN policy matters, maybe the AUP committee can make a suggestion as to whether we should we continue discussion here or somewhere else? The detail ARIN requested at that time was Personal identifying Information of our customers that we do not have. I openly said this in one of the ARIN public policy meetings. To best of my memory I stated something alone the line of “If that is what ARIN insist we provide, we will not further respond in the request since we do not process nor do we intend to to collect such information. as I personally think it is immoral to do so. John, do you really think it appropriate to make accusations and innuendos against someone for protecting the personal data of their customers? As for the the question you asked, it is potentially part of ongoing litigation process that we are not able to comment publicly, why don’t you wait for the court to decide just like rest of public but pushing it entirely out of ARIN’s mandate for an answer entirely irrelevant to ARIN’s operation?
>>>
>>> And just for clarification, while I have a business relationship with Owen, he does not speak for me or cloud innovation, his view is entirely his own and mine are mine. Just like anyone working for any company here on this list. Their views are entirely their own and do not constitute a press release for the corporation they work for.
>>>
>>> Apologies to the nanog list: while I understand this is not appropriate place to reply address this topic, I believe John’s reply makes it necessary for me to provide at least one reply to clarify, as long as John not future engage in the list for the discussion, I will refrain from further posting in this thread.
>>>
>>> I’m also pretty sure that since this has nothing to do with ARIN Policy, it’s not appropriate fodder for PPML, either, but I will leave that between John and the ARIN mailing list AUP committee to address.
