Thank you.

If I did not feel it had other overwhelming negative consequences, then I would absolutely support such a policy and I have a track record of doing so. For one thing, it couldn’t “significantly” cut into my income. I make less than $5,000 per year doing this kind of consulting which is not a significant fraction of my income. While I usually (not always) charge for assisting organizations with their IP requests, it’s not my primary source of income and I do it primarily to help those organizations.

I absolutely express my opinions of policy based on my idea of whether it is fair and in the best interests of the full community or not. Many will call me crazy, irresponsible, or whatever other adjective, but I believe that the process works best when people of integrity work towards the interests of the community rather than simply their own interests or those of the organizations that employ them. I will not deny that my experiences and my position likely color my judgment of what that is. However, I try to give any idea fair consideration to the best of my ability.

When I oppose a policy proposal, I will always tell you why I oppose it. The same with when I support one. When I look at support of or opposition to a proposal from others, I also look for why they are supporting or opposing it and I look for ways to modify the proposal to bring it to a broader consensus if possible.
