As some folks have been tracking this matter, I'm pleased to be able to
announce that Microsoft has received approval of the US Bankruptcy Court
in Delaware that certain Internet Protocol (IP) number resources being
transferred to Microsoft from the Nortel bankruptcy will be placed under
a registration services agreement between ARIN and Microsoft.
Sorry to nit-pick, but I'd like to offer a point of clarification: The bankruptcy court's order authorizes Nortel to sell their rights to the legacy IPv4 numbers, per the sale agreement that was filed with the court. Technically, the order is not directed at Microsoft or ARIN, and does not approve the LRSA.

I did not state that order was directed at ARIN, nor that the court approved the
LRSA, so I'm unsure what point you feel you are clarifying. The approval of the
court was of an sale agreement between Nortel and Microsoft. Microsoft is one
of the two parties of the agreement being approved and therefore the approval
applies equally to them. Included in the sale agreement is the clause:
"For avoid of doubt, this Order shall not affect the LRSA and Purchaser's rights in Internet Numbers transferred pursuant to this Order shall be subject to the terms of the LRSA"
As I said, the court did approve a sale order which stated that that the resources "will
be placed under a registration services agreement between ARIN and Microsoft".
If you read the full filings, you will see that Microsoft and Nortel proposed revising
the the sales order accordingly, and the court agreed to issue the revised order as
recommended.
FYI,
/John
