Cut off your nose to spite your face?
IPv4 and IPv6 are just like products. IPv4 is running out, IPv6 is the
new model noone wants yet. When you want to push something noone really
wants just yet, you are going to have to give some of it away for free.
It seems removed from reality to think you can treat IPv4 and IPv6 the
same with respect to fees.
IPv6 is a new frontier, if you want a stampede of people staking claims
and homesteading this new wilderness you have to be prepared to give a
little bit away in the beginning. Since this is the AMERICAN Registry
for Internet Numbers, you'd think the historical precedents would be
obvious.
