Jim,

First of all it isn't clear that any ARIN policy has caused the routing
table to grow.  This is shown by the fact that the prefix length that is
growing the most rapidly in the global routing table is a /24 and ARIN
does not assign /24s.  Further, ARIN, it's staff, and the advisory 
council are very concerned about making policies that affect the
global routing table size.  Perhaps you should participate more in the
process, come to ARIN open policy meetings, visit NANOG occasionally.
Also remember that when actually meeting people in person, you'll find
that they're just hardworking people trying to do the best they can.  
As you continue to hide behind email and send notes like this, you will
get no one's cooperation and you'll miss out on trying to really solve
the problem.

If you have some constructive input about topics that we can discuss
at the RTMA working group, I'd love to include them in the agenda.

    Many of the ARIN policies have *caused* the routing tables
    to grow, not shrink. ARIN does not care about this. All
    ARIN cares about is extracting fees from people for some
    simple database services which could have been automated
    long ago. Those fees pay for expensive vacations all around the
    world...non-profit of course...
    
    All one can do is route around the mess...

    The question is whether ARIN should be doing things like changing
    the minimum allocation again in light of the routing table growth?
    We're also trying to judge whether moving it to a /20 has had any
    negative impacts on routing table growth.

        I'm willing to attend if there is actually any outcome (i.e., does ARIN
        need to change policies?  not as far as I can tell).
    
        While Randy is correct that growth is sub-Moore at this point, I really
    did
        try to stress the point that the current trend will take us over Moore
    and
        that we either need conservation mechanisms or change to v6.
