Hi community,

We need the portability of number resource to be included in the revised
ICP-2

One reason for portability is for the stability of the internet. Full
ownership and control remain in the hands of the users, not the providers
or registries allows movement of the number resources depending on the
market movement and situational requirement.

It acts as a layer of protection in scenarios where RIRs faces systemic
failures. RIRs are essentially private companies and therefore, not
completely immune from insolvency, mismanagement or regulatory issues. In
the aforementioned scenarios, without the right of portability, the users
would risk losing data and huge disruptions in terms of service outages and
website downtimes.

With portability, it enables users to swiftly migrate their number
resources to a functioning RIR and hence maintaining continuity of their
business operations. In short, it is an important cornerstone for a stable
and user-driven internet. With the users having more control over their own
resources, we will be able to build a more efficient internet structure
that supports everyone, businesses, individuals and communities alike.
