[arin-ppml] was -squatting. Why not use the /8 you already have?

You’ll also have to rewrite the linux kernel which treats all of 127.0.0.0/8 as quasi-automatically configured on interface lo.

1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
    inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
    inet6 ::1/128 scope host
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

PING 127.5.20.2 (127.5.20.2) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 127.5.20.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.064 ms
64 bytes from 127.5.20.2: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.063 ms
64 bytes from 127.5.20.2: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.061 ms
^C
--- 127.5.20.2 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 54ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.061/0.062/0.064/0.009 ms

YMMV
