John,

For a statement of opinion? Not so much. Nor do I want to get
sidetracked into a discussion about whether carelessness at APNIC is
to blame for their running out of addresses first. With the IANA free
pool gone, I depart from the view some folks hold about "compatible
needs-based policies" in that I couldn't care less about how APNIC
manages its IPv4 addresses.

I care about how our region, the ARIN region, manages OUR addresses. I
find the idea that we're going to make OUR IPv4 addresses more easily
available to folks in the APNIC region than they are to folks here at
home to be highly objectionable. And if you're not conversant with the
facts that back up my claim draft 2011-1 does precisely that, please
reread the thread.

Regards,
Bill Herrin
