[arin-ppml] Advisory Council Meeting Results - October 2010

Bill is correct. As we, the AC, understand it the problem with the address space referenced by Geoff will become a "moot point" in the next 2 weeks or so. We really could not find a correct way to identify this space as it is currently identified as "legacy" but not all legacy is part of this space. We decided to table until our next call as we really were at a dead end on how to handle this exception in the draft policy text.

Marty (or anyone),

Do you have a suggestion on how to handle that space in the text of the draft policy?

Thanks,
Johnn

No conspiracy.

This policy was tabled because the AC within the finite meeting
timeframe was unable to find concrete language that described the
addresses...that Geoff Huston and others referenced in the
meeting....which are the addresses residually held by the RIR of record
as the administrator of /8 blocks allocated across RIRs...as I
understand it.... and for which space an agreement between RIRs exists
(apparently) for the future distribution to other RIRs......or something
like that.

We struggled on how to craft language which would have described this
space along with the 'special use' addresses reference in section (2).
Also there were other changes in wording suggested at the meeting which
took some time to craft.

The AC awaits some label or description of those addresses which would
be consitently recognized across RIRs before crafting final language for
this Draft Policy.

I believe (speaking for myself only at this point), that the AC was
otherwise disposed to referring this Draft Policy to last call.
