A nice packaged set of software that could be installed on a V4-V6
gateway box, or used to isolate a V4 virtual server within a V6 virtual
machine shell.

Both are possible today, but the people who are doing these things just
haven't packaged it in a way that you can buy an x86 rackmount box,
download an .ISO and install.

Sure it would be nicer and neater if the IETF creates a replacement for
NAT-PT, but that is basically a gateway box upgrade consideration.
