The CRISP WG of the IETF considered two proposals, one being
IRIS (with it's XML presentation format) and the other FIRS,
a LDAP-based approach using an ASN.1 presentation format.
The WG decided in favor of IRIS, eschewing the LDAP approach.

If you think that an XML presentation format would work with
an LDAP approach, I'd suggest documenting this and presenting
it for review of the CRISP WG.
