RE: Author's petition of proposed policy 'Purpose and Scope of
ARIN WHOIS Directory' - Petition was found successful

The proposed policy, Purpose and Scope of ARIN WHOIS Directory, was
posted to the ARIN Public Policy Mailing List (PPML) on February 19,
2004. The ARIN Advisory Council conducted an initial review and
decided not to support moving the proposal forward in the evaluation
process. The author elected to petition and posted to PPML on
March 10, 2004, in an attempt to advance the proposal in the
evaluation process.

In accordance with the ARIN Internet Resource Policy Evaluation
Process, the ARIN President will verify whether people from at least
four different organizations support a petitioned policy proposal.

  * If a petition receives the required support, the policy proposal
will be considered formal and will follow the remainder of the
    evaluation process.

  * If a petition fails to receive the required support within
five days, the policy proposal will be considered closed.

The ARIN President has determined that the petition of the policy
proposal, Purpose and Scope of ARIN WHOIS Directory, was successful.

ARIN staff will assign the policy proposal a number and formally post
the proposal to the Public Policy Mailing List at least 30 days prior
to the upcoming Public Policy Meeting; the proposal will also be
placed on the ARIN website.
