John,
Is it written down anywhere that would be obvious to everyone? Honestly, it would have never occurred to me such an uncouth thing would happen. A policy is too far at this point as it appears to be somewhat of a corner case. Perhaps it would be more appropriate as a written guideline for future candidates. I recall there being a process description of the nomination process which mentions a brief speech or video. That may be the appropriate place to include a broad mention of what is/isn’t appropriate. Perhaps the "Owen Amendment" ;)
