Perhaps we're unique, but I don't think so. We don't announce the same
aggregate from any of our sites, so we don't really have a suitable
block to choose a /24 out of. In addition, we're a pretty new company
(compared to many) so we lack legacy space, and we're generally very
efficient in our allocations. We don't really have more than a couple
of extra /24s total. (And again, none of them are in a block that is
announced from all of our sites.)

Fundamentally, we need another block that we can announce from all of
our sites. Given the intended usage, why allocate more than necessary?

Some of this is pretty darn specific to our site, and while they
certainly influenced my decision to try to write a reasonable policy,
these aren't the driving factors. I hope this discussion does
something to illustrate the need.

If I understand your posts, you mostly object to the use of
micro-allocation, but agree that there's a need for /24s for anycast.
If there's a reasonable justification for actually using
microallocations, do you have any other objections?

Thanks for the discussion...I appreciate it!
