Hi all,
Including a right to portability will ensure users have the full ownership
of their Internet resources and can choose to operate under which provider
or RIR to host them. Without this right, there might be the risk that the
providers and RIR could take control and block users from switching to
better or more affordable services. This could trap users, making it hard
to move their website or app without losing their online identity.
Portability protects that freedom, ensuring users stay in control of their
digital presence.
Portability gives users the power to move their internet numbers freely,
keeping control of their digital assets during issues like provider
governance disputes or technical problems. With the right of portability,
RIRs must respect the users and can’t lock the people in or claim ownership
of their Internet Resources. By giving the right to portability, it strikes
the ICP-2’s goal accountability and helps build a more trustworthy
internet, where users are in control of their own digital assets. Adding
portability creates a fairer, more user-driven internet for everyone
Cordialmente / Best Regards
