Subject: curiosity
Hi all - I'm joining this group to try and educate
myself about a couple confusions I have about the IPv4
address allocations in existence today.
I'm kinda confused as to how the RIR's coordinate
ownership of IP networks falling into the 128/8
through the 192/8 networks, and others designated as
being the responsibility of "various registries."
The most informational document I have only states
that "various registries" are in charge. However, if
I query the whois databases available at ARIN, RIPE,
and APNIC they all give me, seemingly, different
records for certain allocations. One example is
208.141.102.0. Who is, ultimately, in charge of this
allocation?? And, is this information available in
some document somewhere? Any links/FAQ's/documents
someone could point me toward would be great!
Thanks,
Dave
