Submitted On: 17 September 2021? Description: Add the ability to lock an ORGID from receiving any reassignments or reallocations even if it is not a togglable option by the ORGID owner it needs to be something we can have the help desk set in the system. There is a particular type of fraud occurring where entities are misrepresenting and impersonating us. A major ISP that is not getting any more IP space needs to be able to control bad guys from setting their blocks to look like its us. Value to Community: Decrease fraud increase whois accuracy. Timeframe: Not specified Status: Closed ARIN Comment: Thank you for your suggestion, numbered 2021.18, asking that ARIN add a lock function to prevent organizations from receiving reassignments or reallocations. This functionality was deployed earlier this year and is currently available in ARIN Online. Because this work is completed, we are closing this suggestion. Thank you for participating in the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process. ----------- ACSP Suggestion 2022.29: Allow Phone Numbers Outside of the ARIN Region to be Eligible for SMS Two-Factor Authentication http://www.arin.net/participate/community/acsp/suggestions/2022/2022-29/ Author: Andy Beverly? ? Submitted On: 03 November 2022 Description: Enable non-ARIN mobile numbers for SMS 2-factor authentication Value to Community: This would enable administrators who have a mobile phone number outside of the ARIN region to be able to use SMS for 2-factor authentication. Timeframe: Not specified Status: Closed ARIN Comment: Thank you for your suggestion, numbered 2022.29, asking that ARIN enable non-ARIN region mobile numbers for SMS two-factor authentication (2FA) / multifactor authentication (MFA). When we last replied to this suggestion, we stated that we would conduct a Community Consultation to assess support for continued development related to 2FA/MFA for ARIN Online accounts. Since that time, we have made improvements to allow software passkeys, and we have determined through experience that the limited supported out-of-region mobile numbers were creating a costly attack vector. Because of the real cost, and the variety of other authentication options, we have no plans to enable any new non-ARIN region mobile codes for SMS authentication. Thank you for participating in the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process. ----------- ACSP Suggestion 2023.18: Expand Fraud Reporting to Include Leasing of 4.10 Space https://www.arin.net/participate/community/acsp/suggestions/2023/2023-18/ Author: Anonymous?? Submitted On: 27 October 2023 Description: Widen scope of ARIN fraud reporting tool to include NRPM 4.10 leasing or offer a similar submission mechanism for this purpose. Value to Community: NRPM 4.10 space is extremely valuable for new startups. We might not exist without it. There are numerous organizations who acquire NRPM 4.10 prefixes and then lease them out in the leasing market fur purposes other than IPv6 transition. The current fraud reporting tool seems geared towards outright theft by way of illegal transfers or the creation of organizations fake documentation. There needs to be a way to report NRPM 4.10 prefixes that are being leased out. Timeframe: Not specified Status: Closed ARIN Comment: Thank you for your suggestion, numbered 2023.18 upon confirmed receipt, asking that ARIN widen the scope of our fraud reporting tool to include misuse of IPv4 address space acquired using NRPM 4.10. Dedicated IPv4 Block to Facilitate IPv6 Deployment. Since our last reply to this suggestion, we have formed a dedicated team to focus on Internet number resource fraud and abuse. Investigation of reports of 4.10 address abuse if one of the focuses of their mandate. To make this clear to customers we have amended the language in our Fraud Reporting Process to call out this type of fraud. Because it is now a clear part of our fraud reporting and review process, we are closing this suggestion as completed. Thank you for participating in the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process. ----------- ACSP Suggestion 2024.7: Create Mandatory Mailing List for General Members https://www.arin.net/participate/community/acsp/suggestions/2024/2024-07/ Author: Andrew Dul?? Submitted On: 15 April 2024 Description: Create a general member mailing list that all general members are subscribed to as a requirement of being a general member. Value to Community: Currently the general-members list does not contain all the members. Today this list only contains about 10% of the members. It would be useful for ARIN and other general members to be able to communicate with all members in some circumstances. Initial suggestion would be for the list to be announce type list where ARIN is the only authorized poster. It might also be useful to consider if the list could be a moderated list in the future, if desired by the whole general member community. Timeframe: Not specified Status: Closed ARIN Comment: Thank you for your suggestion, numbered 2024.7 upon confirmed receipt, recommending that ARIN automatically subscribe General Members to a mailing list as a requirement of General Membership. As noted in our previous response, we pledged to augment the General Membership request form in ARIN Online to highlight availability of the General Member mailing list and allow requesting subscription to the list at the time of General Membership request. This improvement was deployed in January 2026. Because this work is completed, we are closing this suggestion. Thank you for participating in the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
