ACSP Suggestion 2025.4: Include IPv6 in WhoWas
https://www.arin.net/participate/community/acsp/suggestions/2025/2025-04/
Author: Dale Carder
Submitted On: 9 May 2025
Description: WhoWas queries should support IPv6 prefixes.
Value to Community: Right now the WhoWas service only supports prefix queries for IPv4 resources. We’ve recently had the case where a downstream entity’s IPv6 resource was no longer properly allocated and we wanted to dig up the previous registration details. We should probably have feature parity between v4 and v6 for this service.
Status: Closed
Response from ARIN: Thank you for your suggestion, numbered 2025.4, upon confirmed receipt, asking that ARIN add IPv6 information to the WhoWas report. We agree that this would be a useful addition to WhoWas, and we will add it to our list of suggested improvements pending prioritization.
Your suggestion has been referred to our internal process for prioritization and implementation planning and is now closed. Thank you for participating in ARIN’s Consultation and Suggestion Process.
