While there was community input on the language the of the proposed definition, the community did not indicate a strong desire for defining “Special Purpose” IP addresses themselves. Community members suggested that the policy be abandoned in favor of one that makes substantiative changes to the text of the NRPM instead. A new proposal has recently come forward that intends to address ambiguous language in the relevant sections of the NRMP rather than creating an umbrella definition for all terms. Given these facts we have chosen to abandon this policy."<o:p></o:p></p><p class=p2><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=p1>Anyone dissatisfied with this decision may initiate a petition. This Petition request must occur within seven days after the announcement date of the Advisory Council action.
