<div dir="ltr"><div>Bill,</div><div><br></div><div>I would like to add here (as someone who was on the AC through all the changes of the policy process) the original policy process was very difficult for the AC because we often could not get the author to participate in the process and so policies that the community wanted and needed would languish. It was very frustrating and the process changed because of it. I do not think there is a single AC member who isn't willing to work with the author and at least when I was on the AC that was always our priority and we worked hard to do that. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Thanks!</div><div>-----Cathy<br></div><div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div><div><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif" size="1">{Ô,Ô}</font></div><div><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif" size="1"> (( ))</font></div><div><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif" size="1"> ◊ ◊</font></div></div></div></div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Fri, Aug 9, 2024 at 5:35 PM John Curran <<a href="mailto:jcurran@arin.net">jcurran@arin.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><br>

Not quite. The question of whether two versions might move forward arises only after the community meeting and after the AC editing process - ie even with high community support for a proposal, the AC could need (based on feedback) to make a change or merge with another proposal.<br>
<br>
The question then was whether the author agreed with those changes, and if not, they could object and continue their original proposal to the next meeting.<br>
<br>
All of this was replaced with a streamlined petition process that allows the same thing in cases where there is even nominal community support for that course of action.<br>
<br>
Thanks!<br>
