Some in-addr.arpa's in your ARIN assigned range are lame and do not return SOA, hence your delegation is considered partially lame. Right now, under current policy, this state of being partially lame is not addressed, and you as the Org will not be warned in any way or requested to resolve the issue in any way. That is what I have a problem with. My opinion is a partially lame dns server for an assigned IP block is still a bad thing, and ARIN policy should state this, and have the same procedure in place to enforce resolution of the lameness of those in-addr.arpa zones.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>-John</DIV><DIV><BR><DIV><DIV>On Sep 12, 2007, at 3:10 PM, Davey, George wrote:</DIV><BR class="Apple-interchange-newline"><BLOCKQUOTE type="cite"> <DIV dir="ltr" align="left"><SPAN class="740350919-12092007"><FONT face="Arial" color="#0000ff" size="2">So No dns is OK?</FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV dir="ltr" align="left"><SPAN class="740350919-12092007"><FONT face="Arial" color="#0000ff" size="2">Lame DNS is not?</FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV dir="ltr" align="left"><SPAN class="740350919-12092007"><FONT face="Arial" color="#0000ff" size="2">Is this what you are saying?</FONT></SPAN></DIV> <DIV dir="ltr" align="left"><SPAN class="740350919-12092007"></SPAN> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV align="left"><FONT face="Arial" size="2"></FONT><BR><BR><BR></DIV> <DIV align="left"> <TABLE style="BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" bordercolor="#111111" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" width="600" border="0"> <TBODY><TR><TD width="1" height="1"></TD><TD width="528" colspan="2" height="1"><IMG height="40" alt="< Des Moines University - Osteopathic Medical Center >" src="http://email.dmu.edu/logo/DMUlogo.gif" width="248" border="0"></TD></TR><TR><TD width="1" height="73"></TD><TD width="858" height="73"> <DIV><FONT face="Arial" size="1"><BR></FONT><FONT face="Arial" size="2">George Davey, B.S., M.C.S.E.<BR><I>Network Administrator</I></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Arial" size="2">3200 Grand Avenue<BR>Des Moines, IA 50312<BR>515.271.1544<BR>FAX 515.271.7063<BR><A href="mailto:george.davey@dmu.edu">george.davey@dmu.edu</A><BR>www.dmu.edu</FONT></DIV></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></DIV><BR><BR> <DIV> </DIV><BR> <DIV class="OutlookMessageHeader" lang="en-us" dir="ltr" align="left"> <HR tabindex="-1"> <FONT face="Tahoma" size="2"><B>From:</B> ppml-bounces@arin.net [<A href="mailto:ppml-bounces@arin.net">mailto:ppml-bounces@arin.net</A>] <B>On Behalf Of </B>John Von Essen<BR><B>Sent:</B> Wednesday, September 12, 2007 12:25 PM<BR><B>To:</B> Public Policy Mailing List<BR><B>Subject:</B> Re: [ppml] Policy Proposal: Modification to Reverse Mapping Policy<BR></FONT><BR></DIV> <DIV></DIV>Yes, <DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV> <DIV>I have several examples of what I call partially lame dns servers.
