*Subject*: Discussion: ICANN84 Plenary on RIR Governance – Implications for
ARIN

Dear ARIN PPML community,

I wanted to share an upcoming session at ICANN84 that might be of interest
to those of us involved in regional Internet governance, particularly
around the challenges faced by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). The
session is titled *"RIRs at a Crossroads: Governance Gaps, Regional
Challenges, and ICANN's Role"*, and it will explore key issues such as
governance gaps, the challenges faced by AFRINIC, and ICANN’s role in
supporting and stabilizing RIRs.

Given ARIN's role as one of the RIRs, the insights from this session could
be valuable for our community, especially as we continue to navigate
governance and regional challenges. Understanding how ICANN is addressing
these issues in other regions might help us consider similar challenges and
opportunities within ARIN.

If anyone is interested in attending, the session is scheduled for *October
28, 2025, from 10:30 to 12:00 Irish Standard Time (IST)*, which is *5:30 AM
Eastern Time (ET)*. The session will be open to virtual participation.
