I do not believe that it is appropriate to discuss on PPML. But I can’t direct you to arin-discuss so I’d suggest arin-consult would be the correct forum.

On the subject of arin-discuss: I believe the problem identified that the way in which people had been subscribed to that list and how often the list was a sea of “unsubscribes” was correct observation for a change; however, I have raised with staff that there is an issue given that the membership needs some kind of forum. The plan is for a newer forum in the year that addresses some of the old arin-discuss shortcomings. I thank the membership for their patience.

When it comes to ACSP suggestions that are in the Board realm the process is that they get routed to myself as Chair. I route it to the committee or the body as a whole who is generally dealing with such issues. E.g. a Fee idea will generally go to our Finance committee. To ensure effectiveness we generally have a workplan for the year so the timing when a suggestion gets considered is impacted by that. Commonly we will combine the suggestions with other work we are doing which is why they tend to get responded in bunches as opposed to individually. We want to look at the bigger picture as opposed to constant tinkering if we can avoid it.

In this case, and has been mentioned at several member meetings, the Board undertook a review of the entire Board Governance area through a Governance Working Group in 2020 and the outputs of that are expected by end of the year in the form of membership consultations. That review is much wider but Trustee selection process is encompassed. As also mentioned the Board reviews all committees annually at the end of the year to propose changes based on feedback we receive from the committees themselves and the membership. This year will be no different and that is expected to occur at either our November or December meeting.

Please feel free to contribute your feedback by emailing me directly at this address or use the list you feel most appropriate. Note though as previously communicated - the Board will not be commenting on the list on your feedback until the current election process comes closer to conclusion.

Cheers,

Paul

That said, I would suspect that the language in 2021.22 calling for the publication of the NomCom’s explanation for rejecting a petitioning nominee may prove problematic from a privacy point of view. At the very least, it should be required that a declined nominee must be made explicitly aware of, and consent to, this disclosure as a part of the process of opening a petition.
