Mike - 

 To get an idea of the scale that some of these organizations 
 (Microsoft, Google, etc.) are working on, you might want to 
 peruse the Internet for relevant articles.  For example, in 
 2008 the following article derives server counts from screen 
 shots out of a Microsoft video -

 <http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2008/08/14/218000-servers-in-microsoft-data-centers/>

 660,000 IP addresses are actually a very small number for any 
 of larger Internet service providers.
