Hi Owen,

There is an upper bound, but there could also be quite an influx of supply.

According to the site above, advertised space is equivalent to just over 2.4 
billion addresses.
Leaving aside RFC1918 and the space above 240/8, there are what, 3.8 billion 
addresses?
Even with unusable boundary space there are a billion addresses 
unadvertised.
And plenty that are advertised but not used.

When you add up addresses freed up by CGN and the like, there could be quite 
an influx indeed.
These addresses will be sucked off the sidelines by the greed of their 
rights holders, and directed to the most efficient overall use by the 
mechanics of the transfer market. They will be sold to greedy individuals 
who think they can use them profitably at whatever application they 
envision.

The Invisible Hand will move addresses to the greater social good, efficient 
use, using individual greed as the underlying motive.
And you can always rely on greed.
