Then may I respectfully encourage you to ask a friendly ear to
introduce a policy proposal which would have ARIN defer to the IETF in
the manner your prescribe? And then endeavor to gather consensus for
that proposal?

By asserting a view which demands that the ARIN Board rule in a
top-down manner on the subject without so much as attempting to gather
consensus for it, you precipitate a scandal. I, for one, want to see
the ARIN President 110% committed to the bottom-up policy development
process. Especially when it's inconvenient.
