The press release explicitly states "Microsoft has followed the Internet
community's adopted policies for such transfers" and "The transfer of IP
resources to Microsoft took place using this relatively new policy."  I
see no reason to suspect otherwise.

That won't stop the tin-foil-hat crowd from having a field day with it,
though.

Did Microsoft actually pay Nortel $7.5M in cash, or was it a swap for
bad debt?  If the latter, I think Microsoft came out ahead; most of
Nortel's creditors will get nothing.
