[arin-ppml] Policy Proposal 95: Customer Confidentiality

I believe ARIN should act to protect the interests of all its users.  Right
now, if I sell DSL, I can hide my customer information.  If I manage a
collocated server I can't.

If this is adopted it will enable hosting providers to control access to
their customer lists.  Something every business is expected to do and as has
been pointed out to me in the last hour, may be required to do under the
Communications Privacy Act.  

One post stated that if people want to use a public network then they should
post their info publically.  I would say that a company like UPS uses public
roads.  Should they be required to disclose their customer lists to FedEx?

If you are being scanned by a machine on my network I'm the first, and in
most cases, the only one that needs to know about it and the only one that
can do anything for you.

Is it a primary purpose of ARIN to protect the commercial interests of
transit providers?

If this is adopted, who are the categories of members who benefit and
who are the categories of users who lose some capability, time savings,
etc. ?

Would such a rule enhance in any way the operations of end users,
educational institutions, government entities, etc. ?

Does the adoption of this rule favor one class of member over another?

I have not made up my mind on the proposal.
