Right, but those challenges ALSO exist to do things like, for example,
run Windows 7 with acceptable speed.  Heck they also exist to run Vista
at an acceptable speed.

Remember Moore's Law here.  Back in 1999 I was still writing a column 
for a local technology mag and I had the temerity to go against it and 
predict that CPU chips would top out at 2Ghz clock speed in the coming
decade.  I'll not make that mistake again.  (although I did correctly
predict multiprocessor computers would be common in the consumer realm)
