Also miles on distance signs. Temperatures are reported
in Celsius and although produce must be sold in kilograms
many places also quote price per pound.

Nobody is seriously suggesting that IPv6 will replace IPv4
or that companies should begin converting anything to IPv6.
What we are saying is that it is time to beging deploying
IPv6 so that when IPv4 addresses run out, you will still be
able to grow your networks and your businesses. The IPv4
networks will stay around for a long time, but the growth
will all be on IPv6.

This isn't like the metric switch because nothing needs to
stop using IPv4 right away. Of course we do expect that once
IPv6 is deployed, some users of IPv4 will indeed switch, but
the IPv4 address shortage will not be the driver for that.
