Michael's suggestion is a mulligan. It's a do-over your first time,
which may be appropriate. If the R&D arm of the company asked for
what they could get, and now the production side has figured out
it should be something different, that's a good thing.
Now, I thought that was the point of 6Bone space, but maybe we got
the timing wrong which is why I don't think Michael's proposal is
all bad.
Now, let's assume Michael's policy passed and had the result he
wanted, people didn't have to come back for a long time. I'll throw
out 50 years. That to me argues my policy is needed even more.
The current policy basically states "ARIN Staff will make a big old
guess in 50 years if you did a good job. Hope so!".
My policy says, "Here's the objective criteria ARIN staff will use
50 years from now to give you your second prefix."
So all Michael's policy would do would be to change the application
to be on requests 3-n, where as without it it would apply to 2-n.
Which is why I submit the are orthogonal.
