Is ARIN (The Business) Too Opaque for the Public to Participate ?

1. ARIN.NET started as a "steward" of some /8s for small IPv4 ISPs.

2. Large Carriers (ISPs) do not use ARIN or RIR services.?

3. Some ARIN /8 Assets are claimed to be owned and some inherited ?

4. ARIN.COM was secretly purchased when 4-Letter .COM domains became
useful for FREE unique Address Space pre-Fixing. LL:LLL:L:LLLL:X ?

5. ARIN is now in Las Vegas on your nickel? If this was the DMV would
they travel around on the public's nickel?

6. ARIN Directors and Executives resign or decide not to work there
and no explanation is provided.?

7. ARIN appears to be focused on the IPv6 market with swag, wikis, etc.?

8. ARIN Executives have recently entered the IPv6 Software business?
as a supplier for a major cable company?

9. ARIN claims to provide "unique-ness" service but WHOIS appears to
be the prime focus.
[Aside: there are many much lower cost ways to ensure uniqueness,
especially as address spaces expand from 32 to 480 bits.]

10 People assume ARIN is part of ICANN and that web-site shows a
Subsidiary Business Relationship. Some claim there are no ICANN≡ARIN
"Contracts". http://bit.ly/8Ylh1e
