This isn't true. You can use a single SSL certificate for multiple domains on a virtual host using mod_rewrite. The technique is here: http://sweon.net/2008/01/hosting-multiple-ssl-vhosts-on-a-single-ipportcerti ficate-with-apache2 You can simply buy your own SSL cert and charge the customers each a bit for the use of it. Of course, if your business model includes you making a profit by buying SSL certificates in bulk for pennies then selling them to your customers for tons of money, then I can see how you might be a little annoyed. I might also point out that historically, retailers that merely buy and resell add extremely little value and as a result customers tend to find ways around them - you might look at a different business model that has more value add?
