Full details about this process are available at: https://www.arin.net/resources/request/waiting_list.html ARIN does still have limited amounts of IPv4 address space available in smaller block sizes. We encourage customers to monitor the IPv4 Inventory Counter on the ARIN homepage and the breakdown of the remaining IPv4 inventory found on our IPv4 Depletion page: https://www.arin.net/resources/request/ipv4_countdown.html Organizations that need larger amounts of address space are encouraged to make use of the IPv4 transfer market for those needs. ARIN also reminds organizations of the ample availability of IPv6 address space, and encourages organizations to evaluate IPv6 address space for their ongoing public Internet network activities. Please contact hostmaster at arin.net or our Help Desk +1.703.227.0660 if you have questions about IPv4 availability. We also host a recurring blog on IPv4 depletion status on the Team ARIN website to keep the community informed about the status of the ARIN IPv4 free pool: http://teamarin.net/category/ipv4-depletion Regards, John Curran President & CEO American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) From info at arin.net Thu Jul 2 10:56:58 2015 From: info at arin.net (ARIN) Date: Thu, 02 Jul 2015 10:56:58 -0400 Subject: [arin-announce] Ron da Silva Resigns from NRO NC In-Reply-To: <55954B20.8070203@arin.net> References: <55954B20.8070203@arin.net> Message-ID: <5595513A.7070206@arin.net> Ron da Silva has resigned from the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) effective 1 July 2015. The Postel Network Operator's Scholarship targets personnel from developing countries who are actively involved in Internet development, in any of the following roles: * Engineers (Network Builders) * Operational and Infrastructure Support Personnel * Educators and Trainers This is not a postgraduate fellowship or academic scholarship. Individuals may nominate themselves for the Scholarship via email or online form. The Scholarship will be awarded annually to a recipient selected by a committee comprising representatives from the NANOG Board of Directors and the ARIN Board of Trustees. The selection committee will "whimsically" select the annual recipient exclusively in response to the question: "What Would Jon Do?" if he were asked to select a recipient. The successful applicant will be provided with transportation to and from the NANOG and ARIN joint meeting October 5-9, 2015, in Montreal, Quebec Canada, and a reasonable (local host standard) allowance for food and accommodation. In addition, all fees for participation in both meetings' events will be waived. The final grant size is determined according to final costs and available funding. The chosen recipient will be advised at least 2 months prior to the fall meeting date. Applications from qualified individuals are now being accepted. The deadline for application is July 31, and the awardees will be informed by August 10, 2015. Please read full information about the scholarship at: http://www.nanog.org/scholarships/postel.php To apply, please complete the web-based application form that is linked from that page. Optionally, you may submit your application in PLAIN ASCII in the BODY of the message, not as an attachment nor as a Word document, PDF, or any other form, to PostelNOS at nanog.org. Please be sure to include the following: * Full name and contact info Your brief biography, including current and recent jobs held * A description of why you need and deserve this Scholarship to attend the NANOG and ARIN meetings * A description of how you plan to leverage your attendance at the meetings in your work * A brief abstract of a presentation you would give at the NANOG and/or ARIN meetings, if selected as a Scholarship winner Kind regards, Betty Burke NANOG Executive Director on behalf of the Postel Scholarship Selection Committee From info at arin.net Wed Jul 8 13:08:10 2015 From: info at arin.net (ARIN) Date: Wed, 08 Jul 2015 13:08:10 -0400 Subject: [arin-announce] =?windows-1252?q?New_Guide=3A_=93Preparing_Applic?= =?windows-1252?q?ations_for_IPv6=94?= Message-ID: <559D58FA.3070300@arin.net> ARIN is pleased to present "Preparing Applications for IPv6," a software developers guide to writing and migrating networked applications for use on IPv6 networks. This guide focuses on software application needs when making the migration to IPv6, and covers some common assumptions made when developing software for an IPv4-only Internet. This guide is available at: https://www.arin.net/knowledge/preparing_apps_for_v6.pdf For years, network engineers and planners have been upgrading routers and configuring networks to prepare for the new protocol, but many remain unsure whether or not their custom-built applications and commercial-off-the-shelf software packages are IPv6-ready. Applications are a crucial component of any organization's network health, but can still be overlooked when preparing a large network for IPv6 adoption. With the lack of IPv6 transition information for software developers, we feel a guide with a software focus was long overdue. This guide is geared specifically toward software architects, software developers, software engineers, and computer programmers. We hope it will help you gain a more thorough understanding of the changes needed for your software to make a smooth transition to IPv6, and arm you with the knowledge you need to confront software vendors about their preparedness for IPv6. If you have any questions after reading this guide, just contact us at info at arin.net. More information about micro-allocations can be found at: https://www.arin.net/knowledge/micro_allocations.html The NRPM is available at: https://www.arin.net/policy/nrpm.html Board minutes are available at: https://www.arin.net/about_us/bot/index.html Draft policies and proposals are available at: https://www.arin.net/policy/proposals/ The ARIN Policy Development Process is available at: https://www.arin.net/policy/pdp.html Regards, Communications and Member Services American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) From info at arin.net Wed Jul 29 16:03:28 2015 From: info at arin.net (ARIN) Date: Wed, 29 Jul 2015 16:03:28 -0400 Subject: [arin-announce] Consultation on Registration Services Agreement Now Open Message-ID: <55B93190.9000308@arin.net> ARIN is seeking community input on a new version of the Registration Services Agreement that combines the existing Registration Services Agreement (RSA) and Legacy Registration Services Agreement (LRSA) into a single agreement (?RSA Version 12.0/LRSA Version 4.0?). Following community consultation and finalization, ARIN will provide services to new parties per this latest version of the Registration Services Agreement. Existing holders of Internet number resources will have the opportunity to upgrade to this new version of the Registration Services Agreement or remain with their current Registration Services Agreement. There are notable and substantive changes with this new version incorporating input received from the community on the Registration Services Agreements. These changes include: * Clarifying that the agreement is only applicable to ?Included Number Resources? (i.e. the Internet number resources pursuant to the agreement, not any other number resources that parties may hold under other agreements or no agreement) * Similarly clarifying that the provision wherein a Customer is agreeing that ?Included Number Resources? are not property is only applicable to ?Included Number Resources? in the agreement and remains silent with regard to any other number resources held by the party * Providing uniform service terms and conditions (other than fees) for all customers receiving services from ARIN * Elaborating on the definition of ARIN?s services that are covered by the agreement, including resource certification * Providing a more balanced agreement with respect to term language previously seen as favorable to ARIN The new RSA Version 12.0/LRSA Version 4.0 is available at the following URL: https://www.arin.net/resources/agreements/rsa_draft_ver12.pdf We strongly encourage you to review the current RSA and LRSA against the proposed version of this new agreement and to submit your constructive comments to arin-consult at arin.net. If you are not currently subscribed to the arin-consult mailing list, you can subscribe at: http://lists.arin.net/mailman/listinfo/arin-consult Discussion on arin-consult at arin.net will close on 30 August 2015. ARIN seeks clear direction through community input, so your feedback is important. If you have any questions, please contact us at info at arin.net.
