From info at arin.net Tue Nov 1 12:12:03 2011 From: info at arin.net (ARIN) Date: Tue, 01 Nov 2011 12:12:03 -0400 Subject: [arin-announce] ASO AC Call for Nominations for Seat 9 on the ICANN Board Message-ID: <4EB01A53.8080606@arin.net> Consistent with the ASO Memorandum of Understanding and ICANN Bylaws, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) calls for nominations for Seat Number 9 on the ICANN Board. The nomination period will close at 23:59 UTC on 16 January 2012. All candidates must sign a Letter of Certification detailing previous conduct and character. We will send this letter to each applicant along with instructions on what to do next. We are unable to consider candidates who fail to follow these instructions. Additionally, the elected candidate will be subject to an independent due diligence review conducted by an ICANN provided contractor (election procedures section 7.4.9). This review is similar to those performed with all ICANN Board selected candidates. Announcement of the winner will follow the successful review report. The ASO AC election procedures are found in Section 7 of the ASO Operating Procedures and are available on the ASO website at: http://aso.icann.org/documents/operating-procedures-aso-ac/ Article VI of the ICANN Bylaws states that: ?At any given time, no two Directors selected by a Supporting Organization shall be citizens from the same country or of countries located in the same Geographic Region.? The ASO AC selection for Seat 10 of the ICANN Board of Directors resides in the APNIC region, so nominees for Seat 9 cannot reside in the APNIC region. If the ASO AC decides to conduct face-to-face interviews, candidates may need to travel (once) during March or April 2012. Reasonable candidate interview expenses related to hotel and airfares will be covered. We expect all candidates to complete one or more questionnaires. Failure to do this by the advised deadlines may rule them out of the selection process. Submit nominations by email to nominations2012 at aso.icann.org including the following information: * Full name of the person being nominated * Contact email address for the person being nominated * Contact telephone number (if available) of the person being nominated * Full name of the person making the nomination * Contact email address for the person making the nomination * Contact telephone number of the person making the nomination The full time frame for the selection process is as follows: * Nomination Phase 1 November 2011 to 16 January 2012 * Comment Phase 17 January 2012 ? 19 April 2012 * Interview Phase 20 February 2012 ? 19 April 2012 - The deadline for return of written questionnaires is 20 February 2012. - Telephonic and face-to-face interviews with selected candidates may take place. * Selection Phase 23 April 2012 -14 May 2012 * Due Diligence Review 15 May 2012 ? 15 June 2012 * Winner Announced 18 June 2012 (or earlier based on completion date of due diligence review) All phases will conclude at 23:59 UTC on the date specified. The consultation yielded constructive comments both on ARIN's Public Policy Mailing List (PPML) as well as off-list. ARIN will take one final review of LRSA 3.0 and report back to the community shortly with regard to implementation. While the response rate was lower than desired, the majority of the feedback was favorable, and the comments are being taken into account in future planning. You can view a detailed report of the survey finding at: https://www.arin.net/features/2011_arinonline_survey.pdf An immediate result of this effort was the addition of details on ARIN projects that are pending prioritization for development. To view the complete list, visit: https://www.arin.net/features/ At the ARIN Online User forum, statistics on current ARIN Online usage were presented along with details about the ARIN software development process and outstanding community suggestions. With over 44,000 registered users and more than 200,000 transactions as of April, ARIN Online is quickly becoming the predominant method for interacting with ARIN. See the complete presentation at: https://www.arin.net/participate/meetings/reports/ARIN_XXVIII/PDF/tuesday/arinonline.pdf As ARIN continues to develop new functionality, it will also continue to reach out to the community for additional input on future features and improvements. ARIN will also be adding a short customer satisfaction survey in 2012 at the conclusion of requests submitted via ARIN Online. ARIN thanks everyone who participated in the survey and user forum, and looks forward to hearing more from the larger community in the future. During the trial, requests should be submitted via email to hostmaster at arin.net and must include details about the registration in question and the reason for the request. Requestors will then be required to sign and return an WHOWAS Terms of Use Agreement before their WHOWAS request can be processed. Because requests will be manually processed during the trial, ARIN reserves the right to set limits on the number of requests that can be made by any single entity, regarding both the number of requests and period of time for requests. ARIN will make every effort to process requests in a timely fashion, but makes no specific guarantees related to processing time. This trial period will run for the remainder of 2011, and will serve to provide much needed data to assist ARIN in defining the scope and requirements for automating this service. ARIN reserves the right to terminate this service prior to the end of 2011 should request volumes exceed ARIN?s ability to provide responses in a timely manner. During the trial, ARIN will evaluate, what, if any fees may be charged for future availability of this service. For full details, instructions on how to take advantage this trial service, and to view the Terms of Use Agreement, please visit: https://www.arin.net/resources/whowas/ Regards, Nate Davis Chief Operating Officer American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN)
