On 7 May, the ARIN Board passed a resolution indicating that ARIN's ability to allocate large contiguous IPv4 address blocks will be limited as the unallocated pool is reduced. As a result, community members have expressed renewed interest in the ARIN policy process. Anyone may participate in the open and transparent policy development process. The Internet Resource Policy Evaluation Process (IRPEP) details how a proposal becomes a policy. IRPEP is available at: http://www.arin.net/policy/irpep.html After you are familiar with the IRPEP submitting a policy proposal is simple. 1. Fill out the policy proposal template available at: http://www.arin.net/policy/irpep_template.html 2. Submit it to policy at arin.net 3. Your proposal will be posted to the Public Policy Mailing List and forwarded to the Advisory Council for consideration to be numbered as a formal proposal. If you have any questions, you may send those to policy at arin.net as well. A new animated feature describes the policy process and explains how you can participate. Watch the tutorial at: http://www.arin.net/education/cbt/IRPEP/ Policy proposal discussions occur on the Public Policy Mailing List (PPML) and at biannual Public Policy meetings. Subscribe to the PPML today and plan to attend ARIN XX in Albuquerque, NM! http://lists.arin.net/mailman/listinfo/ppml http://www.arin.net/ARIN-XX/ Contact Member Services at info at arin.net if you have any questions. Regards, Raymond A. Plzak President and CEO American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN)
