From info at arin.net Wed Dec 12 16:13:57 2007 From: info at arin.net (Member Services) Date: Wed, 12 Dec 2007 16:13:57 -0500 Subject: [arin-announce] Change in Renewal Invoicing for 2008 Message-ID: <47604F15.8070107@arin.net> Beginning with the invoices due in January 2008, due dates for all ARIN renewal invoices will shift to the last day of the month in which an organization's anniversary occurs. This includes renewals for all IP address resources, ASNs, and registration transfers. The anniversary date for an organization is the date when its first resource registration from ARIN was completed. With this change, the month of the anniversary date will be the only factor for determining when invoices will be due. This should simplify accounting for customer organizations. With this addition, ARIN will have four services available over IPv6 transport: * DNS, * FTP, * Web, * and WHOIS. The new WHOIS service is experimental, and may suffer occasional outages and slower response times than the current service over IPv4. We are excited to make another core service available to the community over IPv6, and we are working to make this a production quality service in the near future. Our achievements are numerous. As an organization we have: * Issued 18,500 ASNs * Registered 300 million IPv4 addresses * Processed 7.5 billion WHOIS queries * Registered 2.63038 X 1031 IPv6 addresses And as a community we have: * Made 9,250 posts to the Public Policy Mailing List * Discussed 95 Public Policy Submissions * Held 20 Member Meetings and 17 Public Policy meetings Every day, as an organization and a community, we build on the foundations laid by John Postel and the efforts of so many others. The result is not only a system to delegate Internet number resources, but a bottom-up, open, and transparent framework for number resource policy. All of this is accomplished under the governance of an executive board elected by ARIN members with the support of a dedicated professional staff, an elected Advisory Council, and an involved community. To see the special multimedia presentation we've created to help celebrate this anniversary, please see the website version of this announcement at: http://www.arin.net/announcements/20071221.html ARIN is moving forward into its second decade with a continued commitment to service, and the principles the Internet was founded on: openness, transparency, and community self-governance.
