Title : IAB/IESG Recommendations on IPv6 Address Allocations Author(s) : A. Durand, T. Narten Filename : draft-iesg-ipv6-addressing-recommendations-00.txt Pages : Date : 02-Feb-01 This document provides recommendations to the addressing registries (APNIC, ARIN and RIPE) on policies for assigning IPv6 address blocks to sites. A URL for this Internet-Draft is: http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-iesg-ipv6-addressing-recommendatio ns-00.txt Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then "get draft-iesg-ipv6-addressing-recommendations-00.txt". A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail. Send a message to: mailserv at ietf.org. In the body type: "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-iesg-ipv6-addressing-recommendations-00.txt". NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE" command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with "multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on how to manipulate these messages. Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the Internet-Draft. -------------- next part -------------- ENCODING mime FILE /internet-drafts/draft-iesg-ipv6-addressing-recommendations-00.txt From plzak at arin.net Tue Feb 6 14:31:25 2001 From: plzak at arin.net (Ray Plzak) Date: Tue, 6 Feb 2001 14:31:25 -0500 Subject: Call for Nominations for ICANN Board of Director Message-ID: <000301c09073$65c19c80$eefc95c0@arin.net> The Address Support Organization (ASO) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Regional Internet Registries and ICANN provides as follows: "(3) ICANN Directors. (c) No more than 1 ASO-appointed Director may come from the same geographic region, as defined in the ICANN by-laws." The ASO has made a call for nominations for the ICANN Board of Directors member from the ARIN region to replace Mr. Ken Fockler whose term expires October 1, 2001: url: http://www.icann.org/announcements/icann-pr03jan01.htm. To date there has been only one nominee from the ARIN region. It is important we have a slate of candidates from the ARIN region for this important position. In order to add at least one other ARIN region candidate to the list of candidates the ARIN Board of Trustees intends to nominate one or more individuals as the ARIN RIR candidate(s). This is provided for in the ASO MOU paragraph (3)(b): "(3) ICANN Directors. (b) ... each RIR signatory to the MOU is entitled to nominate candidates by procedures of its own choosing." The ARIN NOMCOM will receive nominations and determine a list of qualified candidates. The ARIN Board of Trustees will then choose one or more candidates by majority vote and forward the selected individual(s) as the ARIN RIR candidate(s)for the ICANN Board of Directors. The timeline for this process is as follows: Any ARIN member or any other interested party forwards a nominee to the following address: memsvcs at arin.net. Self-nominations are permitted. All nominations must be submitted prior to MIDNIGHT, February 23, 2001. The ARIN Board of Trustees will convene to select the ARIN RIR nominee(s). The ARIN Board of Trustees will forward the nomination(s) to the ASO Secretariat no later than March 2, 2001. Any ARIN member or interested party may also submit a nomination to the ASO Secretariat following the procedures at: url: http://www.icann.org/announcements/icann-pr03jan01.htm. I urge you to actively consider and propose candidates by following either of the procedures. Deciding what should go on an ARIN members-only website. See http://www.arin.net/mailinglists/clew/0031.html 2. Determining whether ARIN should produce a document that describes reassignment and utilization requirements that ISPs can give to their customers to follow.
